Amy Koo has served on the board of the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District since 2013, and is the current Board President. She is the CSBA Director at Large, Asian Pacific Islander and is on the board of directors for the San Mateo County School Boards Association. Outside of school board duties, she is a mother of two boys in 7th grade and 3rd grade and works full time as a Director of Managed Markets Analytics at Gilead Sciences, a pharmaceutical company headquartered in Foster City. At Gilead, she served on the Women at Gilead employee resource group leadership team from 2018-2020. Amy is a 4th generation San Franciscan who graduated from Lowell High School and holds a BS degree from MIT and MBA/MS degrees from Stanford. She has a passion for diversity and inclusion, ethnic studies and the inclusion of AAPI stories in curriculum, and ensuring that APIs are well represented in leadership roles both in business and politics. In her second year as VP, she wants to see APISBMA continue to take a leadership role in ensuring an inclusive AAPI unit in the Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum, and educating school districts across the state on the importance of ethnic studies.
