Florence Wong, Board Member

Florence Wong was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area to Chinese immigrant parents who met in the US. She went to UC Berkeley for undergrad (BA in psychology), St. John’s University, NY for graduate school (PhD in clinical psychology) and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Davis Medical Center that emphasized psychological testing. Her doctoral dissertation focused on developing an intervention to address the underutilization of mental health services in the AAPI community due to stigma. She is a licensed psychologist. Florence resides in Burlingame with her husband and 2 children. Her older child has developmental disabilities and a significant neuropsychological autoimmune condition. This motivates Florence to advocate for the disabled community through her school district role, as a commissioner on the San Mateo County Commission on Disabilities, and as a member of the Bay Area Regional Advisory Committee of the State Council on Developmental Disabilities.
