Susanna Ordway, Vice President North

Susanna was unanimously appointed to the San Ramon Valley USD Board of Education in June of 2018. She was then elected unopposed in November 2018 and was the first Asian American to serve on the Board. She is currently serving her second term after being elected unopposed again in 2022 to serve her District of 30,000 students and 35 schools. While she was serving as Board President in 2021, for the first time ever, counselors were hired for all elementary schools, and the first Student Board Member was installed to give more focus to student voice. Additionally, wellness centers opened at all high schools, and multiple levels of academic support were provided to all grades. Her passion for helping and supporting kids, teens, and young adults to achieve their educational and career goals stems from her life's experiences. As an immigrant to the U.S. from Hong Kong as a child, she saw her parents uprooting their lives to have more educational opportunities for their children.

Her experience working in both the financial industry and in education gave her insights to the skills that students should possess when they graduate from high school. Susanna was also a very active parent leader with PTA, and she is an active member of professional organizations that serve as oversight for ethics in the college admissions process to protect students and their families. Susanna has had her own practice since 2016 helping students and families navigate the college application process and earned her certificate for the College Admissions and Career Planning program with UC Berkeley. She loves using her broad knowledge and experience to support students from elementary through college.
